a few new blogs to read.. rather amusing..
well, the one with life at TJ's looks nice..Listening to: Mozart ~*~ Eine Kleine Nacht Musik (yes, once again)
Mood: tired.. bored..
well, here's a few new reads, and as far as I'm concerned, they're gonna be my frequent reads from now on.
YiMing's and Life at TJ's place
Well, two recommendations. YiMing's my good time old pal I met up in tuition last year, she's two years younger, but a whole lot mature up in her head, really take off my hat to her for that!
Life at TJ's place is a blog belonging to a manager who runs an unknown Gentlemen's Club. (aka a stripper's joint) The guy's name is Kevin, more popularly known to his readers as Kev, he writes about his life in his workplace. And he makes his life as a manager in that stripper's joint a fun and ordinary pub life. He lets people understand that, even though it's a stripper's place, the pub's as normal as any drinking sports pub you can find.
Both are good reads, if I might say in the least.
That aside, now that I've been thinking all night of what insanine story of my pathetic life I ought to cook up for everyone to read today.(not that anyone reads it besides my two lovely 'brothers' and my cousin, gwen)
I have decided to let you feast upon some interesting people I've come across in my time last year, emphasising more on the tutorial centre I was with.
It was only back last year, of 2003, when I decided that I ought to take up some new subject just to kill my time. I was running away from the family feud at home (that's a different story for another time) and I needed something to focus on that isn't too blank.
But by Feburary, NO teacher volunteered time to teach me that new subject I took up, so I signed up for MORE classes outside school. Private schools seem the best way to learn at that time. The tutor told me "you have to sign up for the first year classes" and he gladly informed me that I had to sit-in with a bunch of immature 15 year-olds. (or so I thought)
For the fact that they were 15 year-olds, I expected little communications and a secluded corner in class to study in. What surprised me were this bunch of individualistic girls who were always seated three rows ahead of me, as well as the whole lot of shy girls surrounding me. I could practically taste their (shy girls) desire to let all hell break loose and just to be as care-free as those individualistic ones up front in class. (I was always seated at the back)
Well, that one lesson, I was approached by one of the prep-like girls up front of the class. I had to fight that very urge not to roll my eyes and sigh out in boredom. I am the older one there afterall. Her name was Ying. (i cant' seem to remember her name well now) She was a cedarian, and a PSL under probs on becoming a prefect in school. Highly preppy and enthusiatic that she was, I saw no reason for her to be in the class for she was fairly intelligent and rather fast in doing up her sums. She always had two lackies next to her, Joanna and Thia. Thia's an indian girl (again, not her real name for I have lost memory of their names) and Joanna(i know her's for her's is easy to memorise) plays the violin and had a strong eurasian look about her.
Anyways, back to ying, she walked over to me and invited me over to sit next to them for some reason, I agreed for I felt rather bored in a huge class of over 50 students. Soon after, we became buddies in class.
Then came along YiMing (yes, you ming.. ;) you're mention-worthy in my blog and i'm happy that you are!). YiMing, more preferably known to all her friends by Ming, she came into class one day, sitting at my seat that lesson and I was wondering 'Why did that woman take up my seat?!' Then I thought, 'ahh well, it the seat doesn't have my name inscribed on it. I'll be sure to do that next time.' She had this air about her which I can't really describe.
She had that "I will not talk to you unless you have some BRAINS. and I mean it." feel when I sat next to her. That sort of people, I just had to engage in some form of conversation with. Lucky me, she was new to the class, and I remember the first words leaving my mouth to her were "hey, you're new in class."... Needless to say, we just hit it off as good buddies in class from that moment onwards.
Ming just came back from England (which explains that air around her) back then, and she still had abit of the accent in her, for she wasn't in singapore for a full three years, and she'd only been back for only a few months. She admitted that adjusting back was rather horrid, but she was getting by really well.
She played the violin as well, and she's rather good at it, if I must add. Although she told me she'd rather have chosen the viola if she'd known that the violin was that squeaky whenever you hit the wrong angle of the note.
That aside, talking to her in class was something fun and happening in that lesson with the babies of the upper secondary. She was mature to carry off a 16 year-old's look. And even I, as the 17 year-old, though I looked it, I knew I wasn't it. heh, sounds confusing? nevermind that.
Ming hardly turns up for classes. (bad student!) but she had her reasons. She had emsemble practices and violin practicals and recitals coming and usually they'd last till late, thus preventing her from coming to class. Understandable, but not having her around class was horrible. The preps were annoying me sometimes.
But Ming, thanks for the fun times you provided me in class, it was really enjoyable and talking to you was a joy ride to heaven amidst all the baby chaos in class. ;)
Then there was Perline. They nicknamed her Bimbo Queen, and the one thing I liked about her, was her sportiness towards that. She openly admitted that she loved being all girly and bimbo-ish. Never did she fail to amuse me with her dumb blonde antics. A openly-admitted lesbian, she was from a fellow convent school, and she had an immaculate crush on one of the lesbians in my school.
When Per (she makes me call her that) came to know that I was from her crush's school, she immediately clinged on to me like a moth to the light bulb. Ever the boisterous and loud cheerleader, she never pays attention to the teacher in class but is constantly ahead of everyone in the end. Having known her to be of that nature, and me being conveniently seated next to her at all times (soon after she found out i was from the crush's school), the teacher and I had a mutual understanding that I was to spur her to study at all times. Even up till today, the teacher still calls me up to remind me to get her to come for lessons.
Not many love Per. She's the type whereby you either love her, or you hate her. Lucky for her, she's trendy, so everyone tolerates her, and they can't bear to hate her. She's got a model's body, a pretty face and she constantly dolls up. Even in her uniform, she looks ready to strut down the runway. The boys just shut up 'cause she's pretty.
But then again, even if they tried bad mouthing her, she would have heard it and she'd just curse them with vulgarities, earning her chidings from the teacher. She just smiles her dazzling smile and the teacher just brushes it aside.
I like Per, in a friendly sort of way of course. I am, by all or no means, NOT a lesbian. I HAD thought of that prospect once though. But still, I think loving the opposite gender was more worthwhile. Anyway, she was somewhat like Ming. As in, she was different from the preps. She was preppier than the preps, more upbeat and optimistic than the rest. She was a social butterfly, flying from one part of the class to the other for every other lesson.
Lessons with her were never once boring, she's like the life of the class. Just thinking of the numerous times she'd just stand up in class and suddenly ask the teacher if he misses her and asking if she could leave early sends me laughing all the time. I'm chuckling as I type this out.. but nevermind that.
Bottomline, that girl is simply way insane. She's lost her mind and she's never going to get her sane mind back. Even if she did, she wouldn't want it back, for I see that she loves being this crazy. I still talk to her most of the times, she's still the same per I knew back in 2003, never changed one bit. What changed most was her physical image, she's a full out walking, talking, eating, breathing, living Barbie Doll.
Next, the teacher. More commonly known to everyone in MTC (the centre i go to) as Jason Ong. And most commonly teased with all the nicknames, but usually, I'd call him Ongky. He doesn't mind the names, so long as we study in his class and we're serious when it comes to actual work.
Now, I've known Ongky for more than 3 years, the first 2 having known him through the words of my older brother. Gary always described him as a teacher who was always very fun-loving and rather young at heart. True to his words, jason ong turned out to be that way for the first two years that I was in his class. Last year was the third and last year that I was there in his class.
In the class of the sec 3'01 and sec 4'02, he gave me the impression that he was this really cool funky teacher. He always had a soft spot for my group of friends and I, prefering the boys in our group for the boys were the brightest out of the whole co-hort, and us girls coz although we talked a whole lot, we were ready to learn and ask a whole lot of questions and always turning to the boys for help. (that's a different story for that) Having told ongky from the start that I was from a different stream altogether, he wanted me transferred out to the Normal stream class, but I refused, telling him the Normal stream class was such a bore, and they were constantly behind schedule. He was impressed with my standards and allowed me to stay. Anyone else, they had to leave coz they couldn't catch up with what he taught. I lagged behind somewhat most of the time, but he took the time to explain each problem to me after every class if he could. I'd say, ongky was one of the best teachers I'd ever come across in my entire schooling life. And I'm truly glad to have had him as my math tutor.
But last year, ongky was a different teacher altogether.
He didn't play much games anymore, he was so serious that most of the time whenever I try to crack a joke like I always do in class, I can see he's trying his best not to burst out laughing, but he keeps on this stern face, and tells me that it's time to study, not to joke.
Perhaps he had a strict warning from the office. Oh well, I'll go back down on teacher's day for a quick visit next year, I guess.
There's probably more people I'd love to introduce, but it's getting rather hard for you to read, isn't it? I guess I'll stop her for today, and tomorrow I'll tell you about that class of sec 3'01 and sec 4'02..
Till then, write later..
